Brenda A. McLee

Brenda is a disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of the Mount Paran Baptist Church, on the mountain, in Linden, Virginia.

Brenda began her journey with 2nd National upon being asked by her former pastor, Rev. Dr. J.P Baltimore, if she would come and assist the Clerk (Dr. T.J. Baltimore), in recording the minutes for the Council Session and other business conducted during the Annual Session held August 1978.  This session was held at Mt. Morris Baptist Church, the mother church of 2nd National, in Hume, Virginia and during a time when the Association was held at the churches.  She agreed.  At the end of the session the election was held, a motion was made and seconded for the same officers to be retained, with the addition of Corresponding Secretary (Recording Clerk, a newly created position), Sis. Brenda McLee.  This was ironic and little did she know that she was embarking upon and beginning her journey with 2nd National where 2nd National began its’ journey in 1872.  During the 121st session of 2nd National in 1993 Sis. Brenda McLee was nominated for Clerk and received the majority vote thus was elected as Clerk.  (Excerpt from the minutes . . . . . “Let the record show that this is the first office within 2nd National Ketoctan Baptist that has been filled by a female.”)

Prior to the election in 2012, after thirty (34) years of service, she no longer ran for office and had a desire to become involved in other areas of 2nd National.  She was named Clerk Emeritus, Historian and became a member of the Laws and Governing Committee and Task Force, which the primary purpose was to setup a website for 2nd National.

Fast forward ten (10) years to 2022, Brenda was nominated for 2nd Vice-Moderator and she accepted the call.  During the 150th session in August 2022, she was elected to the office of 2nd Vice-Moderator . . . . . . “we have a purpose and God has a plan”.

As a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, she served as Church Clerk for about thirty-two (32) years and has been active in various ministries and projects of the church.  The Holy Spirit has blessed her to bring forth several unique worship services through the years for which she is grateful to God to be used as an earthen vessel.  She gives honor to her Mother (Helen McLee) for instilling in her and her siblings the words and action of Colossians 3:17.

To God be the glory for all He has done and will do.  One of her favorite scriptures – Psalm 24 – The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and they that dwell therein.
